A Norfolk RAF corporal is preparing for a 211-mile round Norfolk cycling challenge to raise money for the Help 4 Heroes charity that aids injured servicemen.
Daniel Clarke, 34, who lives at Ranworth, near Yarmouth, and is based at RAF Marham, near Downham Market, will set off from Yarmouth's Marina Centre at 6am on Saturday and aims to finish at the same place at about 9pm.
The route, in a clockwise direction, will take him through Gorleston, Beccles, Diss, Thetford, Wisbech, King's Lynn, Hunstanton, Cromer and back to Yarmouth.
He said: “I have always been a keen cyclist, from my school days at Acle High, and I got the idea for the ride from the Round Norfolk running relay in which I have participated. The only thing I don't want on the day is a strong wind - I would not even mind if it poured down with rain.”
He has been prompted by a desire to help personnel who come back injured from Iraq and Afghanistan and who do not receive media attention in the same way as those tragically killed.
People are invited to sponsor him - to boost his sponsorship total currently at �500 - by ringing him on 07904 035375. People are also being encouraged to cycle alongside him for sections of the route and pay 10p per mile towards Help 4 Heroes.
