During the last few weeks high-visibility patrols have been carried out and several acceptable behaviour contracts issued to young people.
Community workers created a youth arm of the Middlegate Residents Association which aims to provide more activities for young people.
Officers have also worked with local landlords to tackle anti-social behaviour on York Road and door knocking exercise discovered what problems residents were facing.
High visibility patrols by officers and enforcement action by landlords has further reduced the problem.

The team also took part in a multi-agency action week held on the Barrack Estate in September.
The five-day event focused on several issues including youth, housing, environmental crime and vandalism.
Feedback from residents was positive and as a result partner agencies will now work together to improve youth services.
Residents set a further three priorities which the team will focus on over the next two months.
Engagement and reassurance with elderly and vulnerable people over the winter months
Anti-social behaviour on Middlegate Road
Supporting community cohesion by encouraging the reporting of hate crime
The team's next priority setting meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 26.
