An under 8s football team has found a new lease of life after attracting sponsorship from Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre.

Costessey Lions have only been defeated once in the Norfolk Combined Youth League since donning their new kit.

Sea Life marketing manager, Maxine Culleton, suggested the Costessey Lionfish may be a more appropriate name for the club.

She said: “Just like the tropical lionfish they can strike like lightning, and although they don’t have poisonous spines they seem to have an equally effective defence. They’re such a fantastic bunch of lads, so well behaved and respectful of the beautiful game.”

As well as sponsoring the kit the centre has provided a free ticket per game, which is awarded to the man of the match.

Ian Dickinson manages the Urchins Restaurant at the seaside attraction and is head coach of the Lions.
