Great Yarmouth Borough Council is consulting residents on plans for future building in the borough as part of its Core Strategy Development Plan document.

Part of the Local Development Framework, it aims to help the council meet government guidance to provide 7,240 more dwellings and create 5,000 new jobs by 2025.

Four thousand of these dwellings have already been either built or have planning permission.

A key feature in the plan is brownfield urban regeneration with most housing and employment being developed on central waterfont areas in Yarmouth and Gorleston.

However, capacity of these sites is limited so other options have to be explored in light of environmental constraints such as the risk of flooding.

The latest versions of the strategy are available for residents and businesses to read and comment on until April 14.

Copies are available from Maltings House in Gorleston, the Town Hall as well as public libraries and Community and Liaison and Information Points (CLIPS), Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

The document can also be viewed on the council's website www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk.
