RESIDENTS are being offered a free gift-wrapping service in exchange for their views and opinions on the local community.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council's neighbourhoods and communities team will be on hand at Yarmouth Market Place armed with gift wrap and bows for the late night shopping event on December 16.

Holly Notcutt, neighbourhood manager for Cobholm, Southtown and Halfway House, said: “We took to the streets for the Gorleston Christmas light switch-on last Friday and armed with gift wrap and bows the team set up a stall to relieve Christmas shoppers of the burden of wrapping their own Christmas presents.

“Although, this was a bit of festive fun it also gave us a chance to talk to local people about issues in their areas.

“The information will be used to help the development of two new neighbourhoods boards - one covering Magdalen, Shrublands and Elmhurst Court and one covering Cobholm, Southtown and Halfway House. It will also support the continued development of the award winning South Yarmouth 'Comeunity' programme, ensuring that local priorities are met with local solutions.

“We hope the Town Centre event will be just as successful so we urge residents to come along and have their say and get their gifts wrapped too.”
