A FORMER first school in Martham should be turned into a graveyard, affordable homes and a garden councillors will be told on Monday.
Martham First School in Martham, near Yarmouth, closed its doors in 2007 as part of a county wide reorganisation of first and middle schools when it merged with West Flegg Middle School to become a new primary school.
Following the closure, 1,566 consultation forms were sent out to villagers to ask their views on what the former first school building should become.
On Monday, Norfolk County Council's cabinet will receive a report of the residents' comments and be asked to approve the disposal of the former school, which can not be demolished under current planning advice.
Councillors will hear there has been unanimous support to extend the neighbouring church's graveyard and there was opposition for new homes to be built on the school site to help the council meet the costs of its school re-organisation.
Residents would also like to see a car park for the recently refurbished church hall.
