A middle-aged couple have had to be temporarily re-housed after fire badly damaged the kitchen and garage of their cottage on the Caldecott Hall estate, at Fritton, near Yarmouth, on Wednesday evening.
The alarm was raised at 8pm by a resident of Fairway Lakes, a neighbouring housing development.
The fire spread to an electricity sub-station before crews from Yarmouth and Gorleston and then Lowestoft and Beccles brought it under control by 9.30pm.
A number of homes were left without electricity as a result of the blaze, but it was hoped power would be restored some time yesterday.
