A couple who met at a popular former dance hall are preparing to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Terry and Pat Bland met at the former Gariboldi in St Nicholas Road at a dance in 1965.
Terry asked Pat to dance one evening, but as Pat did not want to leave her friend alone she declined. He was persistent and finally on the December 18 Pat said yes.
They began courting which involved many bus journeys between Terry’s family home in Great Yarmouth and Pat’s in Gorleston.
They married on November 18, 1967 at St Andrew’s Parish Church in Gorleston – 23 months after they started courting.
Their son Phillip was born in 1970 and their daughter Julie in 1974.
The 18th remains a special date for Terry and Pat, as their first grandson Jack was born on that date. They have two other grandchildren Shania and Stephen and a step grandson John.
