Inspectors have paid a visit to the region's ambulance trust.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited the East of England Ambulance Trust (EEAST) following an inspection of the trust’s core services earlier this month.

But the authority returned later in the month to look at the trust’s leadership, management and governance.

The visit follows a difficult few months for the trust, where winter pressures and allegations over patient safety by a whistleblower put the service under the spotlight.

At the trust’s last inspection, in April 2016, EEAST was rated as requires improvement overall.

Each category, including well-led required improvement, except for where inspectors looked at whether the service was caring, where the trust was rated as outstanding.

Results from the most recent inspection are expected in the coming months.
