POLICE are no longer treating a crossbow incident in Gorlerston as suspicious after it emerged the man accidentally shot himself. A 41-year-old man needed surgery to remove a crossbow bolt from his chest after he was found on the corner on Marine Parade and Avondale Road at about 5am on Saturday .
POLICE are no longer treating a crossbow incident in Gorlerston as suspicious after it emerged the man accidentally shot himself.
A 41-year-old man needed surgery to remove a crossbow bolt from his chest after he was found on the corner on Marine Parade and Avondale Road at about 5am on Saturday .
Police initially suspected the shot had been fired by someone in a passing car but a police spokeswoman said it was now being treated as an accident and officers were not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
The man was initially taken to the James Paget University Hospital, in Gorleston, but was later transferred to Papworth Hospital, in Cambridgeshire, for emergency surgery, and is in a stable condition.
