Motorists travelling between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth could face delays when roadworks on the A12 get under way next month.

Overnight closures and speed restrictions are going to be in place on the A12 between the Station Road roundabout at Hopton and the Bent-ley Drive roundabout near the Tesco supermarket in Lowestoft for 14 nights between March 15 to April 19.

The construction work, which will be carried out between 8pm and 6am, will mean that the A12 will be closed overnight from the Bentley Drive roundabout to the Gorleston Road/ Oulton Road junction at Rackham's Corner. A managed contraflow system will be in place using the opposite side of the road.

During the overnight work, there will be a speed limit of 10mph for drivers travelling south towards Lowestoft between the Station Road roundabout in Hopton and Rackham's Corner.

There will also be a 40mph limit in place from the Blundeston Road junction on the edge of Lowestoft to near Jay Lane just south of Hopton. No overtaking will be allowed on that stretch between 8pm and 6am.

Vehicles will also be stopped from turning on to or off the A12 at Stirrups Lane, Gorleston Road or Corton Long Lane.
