A COMPANY tasked with attracting millions of pounds of investment to regenerate large areas of Lowestoft and Yarmouth has appointed a design and planning company to help move its proposals forward.

Urban Regeneration company 1st East has long term plans to revitalise brownfield and waterfront sites in both towns.

Now planning and design consultants from EDAW will work with 1st East and local councils to prepare all the planning information and proposals, called the Area Action Plan, before they are submitted to the government for approval.

Chief executive Philip Watkins said: “The brownfield land used by long-gone industries cannot be redeveloped for offices, retail, leisure and homes without first getting new permissions.

“This will be achieved by advancing the Area Action Plan. It is a long process but we are at last on the home run and EDAW will help us get there.”
