ANYONE with a disability or long-term health condition is being encouraged to take part in a survey - the results of which will help shape the work being done with residents with disabilities.
The survey, asking people about their experience of disability, has been launched by Norfolk County Council and partners - including Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Norfolk Police and health services.
Since 2006, the county council and other public bodies have
had a legal duty to produce a Disability Equality Scheme every three years.
Working with disabled people in drawing it up, the scheme laims to outline plans to promote equality and highlight ways of tackling disadvantage.
The second three-year scheme is now being created - with feedback from residents
with disabilities, the Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People, and other disability access groups, seeing the creation of a new expert group of disabled people early in 2010.
This expert group will undertake in-depth and ongoing analysis of DES across Norfolk and independently assess the effectiveness of action to promote disability equality.
The survey, running until February 26, will provide further information to this group - helping to set priorities for coming years.
The survey can be found by visiting www.yournorfolkyoursay.org
