VOLUNTEERS in north Norfolk will get together tomorrow to discuss ways in which they can help the district's rural communities.Representatives from a number of voluntary organisations as well as speakers from the NHS, adult social services and the Commission for Rural Communities will meet at Fakenham Racecourse.
VOLUNTEERS in north Norfolk will get together tomorrow to discuss ways in which they can help the district's rural communities.
Representatives from a number of voluntary organisations as well as speakers from the NHS, adult social services and the Commission for Rural Communities will meet at Fakenham Racecourse.
The meeting, from 9am until 3.30pm, will focus on how authorities and volunteers can work together to provide services in the area.
In particular, the group will discuss issues associated with helping rural communities, which are often over-looked during discussions about “vulnerable communities”.
Andrew Campbell, development co-ordinator for Voluntary Norfolk, which supports the county's voluntary and community organisations, said: “We will talk about what's special about providing services in rural areas, what makes it harder to do that and how people are just as vulnerable in rural areas as urban ones.”
The meeting aims to identify ways to help the volunteer community in north Norfolk thrive and how changes in government policy will affect the work they do.
