Police are investigating a dog attack on Yarmouth seafront in which a powerful pet dog savaged a Yorkshire terrier and picked it up in its jaws.
The terrier was badly bitten by the resort's Sea Life Centre after the other dog, believed to be Staffordshire bull terrier, slipped its lead on Sunday afternoon.
During the incident, a member of public punched the attacking dog to try and make it release the smaller animal, which was being walked by a woman.
The bull terrier like dog was then manhandled into a beach hut until police arrived. It was being walked by a teenage boy and was returned home.
Yesterday the police said the attacked dog was still recovering from its injuries at home
Jon Dack, police spokesman, said officers are investigating the circumstances of attack, which happened at about 4.45pm, to see if a file can be submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.
