Police have condemned a dog owner who left their pet alone in a car during today’s stifling heat.
At around 4pm police were alerted that a dog had been left in a car in Great Yarmouth, with the windows only slightly open.
Upon arrival they made sure the dog was safe before warning its owner of the potential risk.
An officer then took to social media to encourage other dog owners to take precautions and remind them “dogs die in hots cars”.
The tweet read: “Just been out to a job where someone had left a dog in a car with the windows slightly open.
“It is currently 23 degrees in Yarmouth and so much hotter in a car - this is not acceptable.”
They added: “Dog is ok, suitable words of advice given and relevant authorities aware.”
