You will have to be barking mad to go to Great Yarmouth’s market if you don’t like dogs this weekend.

A special charity event has been organised by the mayor, Kerry Robinson-Payne, in aid of Cinnamon Trust, one of the charities she is supporting during her year in office.

Bark in the Market will take place on Saturday from 10am to 2pm at Market Place, and will see dogs compete for various categories.

Any dog can enter any category, including most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, best rescue dog, best junior handler and the dog the judges would most like to take home.

Registration is from 10am, with the first show at 11am. Those judged first, second and third in each category will receive a certificate and rosette with one dog to be chosen by Mrs Robinson-Payne to receive a special award, some doggie treats.

She said: “Bark in the Market is a great way to bring together our community of dog-lovers to have a bit of fun and add to the Saturday buzz in the Market Place.”
