SOME of Norwich City's greatest ever players are helping send two children, whose mum died in a tragic accident, on a trip of a lifetime to Florida.

A Legends Charity Penalty Shootout is taking place at Yo Football in Great Yarmouth in memory of Bradwell woman Kelly Palmer who died in a car accident last November. Former Canaries goalkeeper and manager Bryan Gunn will be back between the sticks to raise cash for Kelly's children Kyle and Jordan and widower Keith to go on holiday to the Sunshine State.

Gunn will be joined at the event next Friday, January 15, by fellow ex-City stars Dale Gordon, Jeremy Goss, Darren Huckerby and Darren Eadie.

The fundraiser has been organised by Jason Brown, manager of Blundeston Magpies under 8's football team where Kyle is a player.

Seven year old Kyle returned to training this week for the first time since suffering serious injuries in the car accident.

He was travelling with sister Jordan, who was also hurt, to a coaching session when the crash happened involving another car near Lowestoft.

Dad Keith said: “We had been planning to visit Disneyworld before Kelly died, so it will be a wonderful treat for the children to travel there.

“Kyle loves his football and it was fantastic seeing him running around the pitch again this week despite the fact it was freezing cold. Both of my children are coping well with the loss of their mum and it has been particularly difficult for Kyle having all the hospital treatment over the last few weeks.

“I am tremendously grateful to Jason for all the hard work he has put into organising the event and it is wonderful that so many great former Norwich players are supporting it. Jason gives so much time to all the children at the club and is just such a good bloke.”

Kyle was treated at James Paget University Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital for injuries to his head and groin, punctured lungs, a broken wrist and collarbone.

He returned to Hillside Primary School, in Bradwell this week where nine year old Jordan is also a pupil.

Both children will be mascots at the Norwich City v Ipswich Town Legends match at Great Yarmouth Football Club in April.

Jason is also planning a darts match featuring Yarmouth arrows ace Mervyn King at the Sun Inn in Bradwell to also raise funds for the USA holiday.

Entry is free to the penalty shoot out at Yo Football, Harfreys Road from 6pm. It costs 5 for four penalties, with those scoring all four going into a draw to receive a football signed by the Norwich City football squad.

Other fun activities include a raffle, with prizes including holidays, meals, signed footballs and hotel breaks, and a children's tombola. Gifts for the raffle and tombola and have been donated by Lion Engineering.

Staff from Asda in Yarmouth, Keith and Kelly's workplace, have donated cash towards the appeal.
