ON Tuesday, a group of mill experts from the Netherlands were given a Norfolk insight into preserving the historic drainage mill network across the Broads.

The delegation of Dutch heritage and cultural experts visited Polkey's drainage mill at Reedham and the How Hill Nature Reserve at Ludham.

At the restored 19th century Polkey's Mill, the European group met a team of recently qualified millwrights who have set up their own company after completing a lottery-funded course.

And at the Norfolk Broads Study Centre at How Hill the Dutch visitors admired the skills of the county's oldest reed and sedge cutter Eric Edwards.
