We have teamed up with Sports for Schools to offer primary and infant schools the chance to win their share of £20,000 worth of sports equipment.

Great Yarmouth Mercury:

Many schools from across Norfolk and Waveney have already signed up to take part in this year's Sports for Schools scheme. Here's all you need to know…

What is Sports for Schools?

Sports for Schools is a competition which involves schools and communities collecting tokens for a chance to win a share of a £20,000 sports kit cash pot.

Special tokens will be printed in every edition of our newspaper and parents, school staff and the local community can collect and donate them to a school.

What are the prizes?

The three schools with the most tokens - calculated on a pro rata basis based on pupil numbers - will receive prizes of £5,000, £3,000 or £2,000.

Schools which collect 1,000 tokens will receive a free sports pack which is worth over £60.

Where can I collect tokens?

Tokens will be printed in the following papers:

•Eastern Daily Press

•Norwich Evening News

•Great Yarmouth Mercury

•The Lowestoft Journal

•Beccles & Bungay Journal

•Dereham Times

•Fakenham & Wells Times

•North Norfolk News

When does the competition start and finish?

From Monday, February 5, a token will be printed in every edition of our newspapers up until April 14.

How do I start collecting?

Tokens will be printed every day in the EDP and Evening News and each week in the weekly publications.

There will be one token a day but watch for bonus tokens and two tokens every Saturday (one token a week plus bonus tokens in the weekly publications).

How many schools are taking part?

At present 71 schools are signed up in Norfolk and registrations are still coming in!

Is it too late to enter?

No. If your school could benefit from a share of £20,000 worth of sports equipment then make sure you register your interest!

How do I register my school?

To get involved simply send the school name, address, postcode and telephone number as well as a contact name, and the number of pupils at the school to sportsforschools@archant.co.ukor call Debbie Noye on 01473 324773.

Once registered we will send you an entry pack including a token collection box, posters and flyers for parents; boards to display outside schools are also available on request. Remember that many of your pupils parents probably already read our newspapers so encourage them to bring tokens in before they recycle the newspaper.
