WHAT better way to spend a cold, wet, and rainy half-term February day?

Why, at the Nelson Museum for Pirate Day! On February 23, local youngsters and their families enjoyed a fun-filled piratical day of free activities which included face-painting, storytelling, games, and crafts. The museum’s resident swashbucklers trolled around the site, greeting and engaging young visitors, many of whom dressed in full pirate kit themselves! Resident storyteller, Captain Bertie, regaled visitors with mysterious tales of pirates and their buried treasure. Visitors were able to make their own pirate kit in the craft area, donning personalised pirate hats, eye patches, and flags of skulls and crossbones reading “Beware”.
