Students got to experience rural careers on a coastal estate during a special visit.

More than 60 Year nine and 10 pupils from schools across Norfolk spent the day on the 25,000-acre Holkham Estate to see what it takes to work on the land.

Students came from Springwood High School in King’s Lynn, Lynn Grove Academy in Great Yarmouth, Flegg High School in Martham, Norwich’s Hellesdon High School and Norwich’s City Academy.

The career day was organised by the Holkham Estate and Take Your Place, which focuses on inspiring young people into higher education.

Lucy Hearle, a Springwood High School pupil who is interested in gamekeeping, said: “The day offered a lot of information about the different careers that went on in the park, and I learnt a lot about gamekeeping that didn’t know about.”

The students learned how the estate aims to stay at the forefront of rural industries.
