Nursery children take their tablets!
AN entrepreneurial mum has taken the life-changing decision to ditch the office for the children’s play mat by launching her own nursery - with a twist.
Kirsty Jenkins has opened Scribbles day nursery in Fleggburgh Primary School, which uses the latest technology to help youngsters learn and develop.
The nursery, for two to five year olds, encourages children to learn with an iPad computer tablet, while a special internet system has been set up to allow parents to track their child’s progress from anywhere in the world.
Mrs Jenkins, 37, of Bradwell, has been involved in child care since she was 19 years old, but had spent many years working in the corporate environment a manager.
And now she has told of her joy at being able to work directly with children again and make a “real difference”.
She said: “I have been a nursery manager and an administrator and it is so far removed from the children - I wanted to get back to working with the kids again.
“The new nursery will create two new jobs and I am already considering the prospect of expanding into Great Yarmouth as well.

“I decided to introduce the iPad into the learning environment because we are in a technological age now and it helps children with learning and introduces them to subjects such as photography.
“Every child has a learning profile, which tracks how they are developing, what they are learning and what they are interested in. Usually this would be given to the parents as a hard copy, but we have set up a system where parents can access this information online, so if people are working offshore, for example, they can still see how their children are getting on.”
The nursery school, which has a capacity of 18 children, will be holding an open day on Saturday October 29 at Fleggburgh Primary School from 10am to 1pm.
She added: “The primary school in Fleggburgh is a wonderful school and the community are really behind what I am doing.
“I believe having a day nursery will only help to bring the community to life.”
