A coastal village’s primary school has been told it requires improvement by education watchdog Ofsted.
Winterton Primary School has been rated as requires improvement following a two day inspection last month that looked at the effectiveness of leadership and management, the outcomes for pupils and their personal development, behaviour and welfare, the quality of teaching and assessment and early years provision.
A previous inspection had rated it as good.
The latest report says school improvement has been hampered by inconsistencies in senior leadership and governance, communication with parents requires improvement, there are weaknesses in early years maths curriculum, attendance is below average and progress in key stage 1 writing and maths has been held back.
Osfted did go on to praise new headteacher Martin White for rapidly addressing weaknesses in key stage 1 and said pupils’s behaviour is good and progress is good at key stage 2.
