STAFF at Northgate St Andrew First School in Great Yarmouth are celebrating the receipt of a special award.

The school has again been awarded the Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark from the National Nurture Group Network. The reward recognises the school’s commitment to providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment for the children in its care.

In her report about the school, Helen Stollery from the Nurture Groups Network, described the school’s nurture group as “excellent”. She said: “Children feel safe and secure and the staff are to be commended for their calmness, patience, honesty, strong commitment, wealth of experience and their understanding of the importance of relationship building with vulnerable children.”

The three members of staff responsible for the nurture group, Sarah Young, Gill Holmes and Suzanne Mason were honoured at a special school assembly. Head teacher Lindsay Hanger said: “I am absolutely thrilled at the hard work and dedication of the staff who have made this possible. All their hard work is reflected in the excellent behaviour and happiness of the children at Northgate St Andrew.”
