A GROUP of former pupils from Great Yarmouth High School for Girls had lots more to talk about last weekend when they met for a special reunion lunch.

The group met to talk about old times and memories of their school days – 51 years ago, after starting at the High School in September 1959, but this year especially to pay tribute to one of their group, Pam Wells, who passed away earlier this year, aged 63, having battled with MS for some considerable time. Her husband, Paul, who is well known for his vegetables at Yarmouth Market, has been a long established market gardener, working with Pam for many years, in West Caister.

“Pam was the foundation of the business and helped with the book-keeping”, he said. “She made many friends and was a committee member at Centre 81 where she inspired many with her art and sailing capabilities. She will be sadly missed by us all”.

Pam was a founder member of the former pupil’s reunion lunches and regularly attended those held each year. Another former pupil, Margaret Luckett-Gray, who had been a close friend of Pam for many years, said: “Pam was very popular at our annual Old Girls Reunion and she will always be remembered for her inspiration and cheerful attitude”.

Paul Wells attended this year’s luncheon party, held at the Oasis in Norwich, and said: “I am pleased the ladies can meet every year and remember the good times and hope this reunion will continue as a fitting tribute to my wife, Pam who will be sadly missed.”

Margaret “Lucy” Luckett-Gray who organised the lunch reunion said: “It’s fantastic to be able to meet those who we went to school with such a long time ago and this lunch, in particular, to pay tribute to our dear friend Pammie Wells.
