A 56-year-old Great Yarmouth man has today been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty at Norwich Crown Court in January of a serious sexual offence.
A 56-year-old Great Yarmouth man has today been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty at Norwich Crown Court in January of a serious sexual offence.
Dennis Compson, of Havelock Road, was found guilty of sexual activity with a person suffering a mental disorder impeding choice.
Mr Compson was employed as a carer at a nursing home in Great Yarmouth. The home provided residence for elderly people suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
He was charged after committing a serious sexual offence on April 6 2009 against a 72-year-old female resident with advanced dementia, whilst he worked as a carer at the home.
Detective Constable Donna Day of Norfolk Constabulary's Adult Abuse Investigation Unit commented “The victim in this case is extremely vulnerable and was completely betrayed by the person entrusted with her care. The effect on the victim's family, who were present throughout the trial, has been very traumatic”.
