Electric blankets twice as safe

PUBLISHED: 14:56 02 March 2011

THE number of electric blankets in Great Yarmouth failing essential safety checks has halved in a year.

In an annual testing roadshow carried out by a Trading Standards team, 73 blankets were tested with 22 failing. This represents a failure rate of 30pc compared to 58pc in 2009. Officers detected 148 faulty blankets out of the 388 blankets in their safety testing roadshows, that stopped off at five towns in Norfolk in October last year.
