NORFOLK County Council's emergency planning team, in partnership with the Norfolk Resilience Forum is organising an event to help raise awareness of what to do in an emergency.
The purpose of the event is to provide information and support to the public about preparing for, responding to and recovering from a range of emergencies. The event takes place during Business Continuity Week and there will be an opportunity for business people, whatever the size of their organisation, to pop along and get advice about ensuring they are ready for every eventuality.
The event takes place at The Forum in Norwich on Friday, March 27 from 10am until 4.30pm.
Local authority emergency planners and business continuity officers will be joined by the emergency services, the Environment Agency, utility companies, NHS, voluntary agencies.
John Ellis, head of emergency planning at Norfolk County Council and chairman of the NRF Support Group, said: “The aim of this event is to answer any questions people may have about emergencies. There are a number of organisations represented and a chance for business people to seek advice on business continuity. There can be a tendency when people think of emergencies to imagine major catastrophes but problems are often of a smaller nature; a flash flood in your street or a key member of staff leaves taking vital knowledge with them.
“We will be outside The Forum for most of the day to give advice and answer any questions you may have so please come along and see us.”
Richard Rockcliffe, cabinet member for fire and community protection, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get practical, useful advice about some simple things they can think about today which may just help in the future. It is also a chance for people to get any questions they may have answered by the experts.”
