Road engineers have been called in to tackle a red light problem on a set of major improvement roadworks on the A47 at Gorleston.
This morning traffic came to a stop as temporary red lights got stuck on the A47 near to the James Paget University Hospital.
It saw some motorists delayed for up to an hour and buses forced to issue delay messages on social media
Highways England is carrying out the work.
A spokesman said: We are aware of an issue with the temporary traffic lights on the A47 near to James Paget Hospital.
These are wireless traffic lights and there is a problem with signal interference meaning the lights are sometimes stuck on red.
Our engineers attended site and reset the signals which are back in working order.
In the meantime, we will place operatives at the signals during peak hours to operate them manually should there be a problem. We are also looking at other ways to minimise disruption, including talking to the hospital about better access during the work.”
