Norfolk FA are investigating an incident at a youth football tournament in which a man was reportedly beaten.
The incident occurred at Gorleston Rangers Youth Football Tournament at Ormiston Venture Academy yesterday and reportedly resulted in the under 15s competition being abandoned.
Matt Carpenter, football services manager at Norfolk FA, said: “We have been made aware of a serious and very concerning incident that has taken place at the Gorleston Rangers FC tournament on Sunday and we have begun our investigations into this matter which will be dealt with in line with FA Regulations.”
The incident apparently involved a fight between players and parents and resulted in a man sustaining injuries.
On Twitter, Gary Chapman said: “Was utterly disgusted by the behaviour of some of the Gorleston parents and players at their tournament today (yesterday) fighting and stamping on some man’s head in front of young children. A disgrace to Norfolk FA, I won’t ever bring a team back. A disgrace to football.”
The former director of Gorleston FC, Carl Butler, replied stating that the head of their youth was the victim of the beating.
He said: “Can I just confirm it was not parents and players from Gorleston FC who carried out this act.

He added: “Authorities are aware and carrying out investigations.”
Mr Butler went on to add that the man who was reportedly attacked was okay, but had a black eye and some bruising.
Gorleston Rangers Football Club declined to comment.
