Gok, Can you please help me fix my wardrobe disasters?

That was the plea from 100 women queuing up outside Great Yarmouth town hall yesterday as they prepared to have their dress sense scrutinised by television fashion guru Gok Wan.

The colourful clothes expert was in the town's seat of democracy as he filmed the latest episode off his hit Channel Four series Gok's Fashion Fix.

Gok spent the day poring over the women's clothes and dress sense as he offered advice to the female population of the borough on mini makeovers, how to make the most of their figures and ditching any fashion nightmares.

And Gok also had to decide which one of the 100 Fashion Fix fans would win the chance to star in the show by having a complete new wardrobe and the mother of all makeovers.

First in the town hall queue was Lessie Keenan, 59, who stood outside the South Quay building from 7.30am for more than three hours so Gok could offer her top tips on how to dress for her age.

Further down the queue was Lorraine Turner, 46 and of Southtown Road, who by her own admission was wearing a “hideous” top and wanted advice on how to dress after she recently lost two stone in weight.

She said: “I thought wearing this top may help my chances of getting on television - my friends think I need Gok's help.”

Also in the queue was 59-year-old Maureen Gaynor, of Hopton, who had been persuaded by her friend Christine Stephenson to take part in Gok's Fashion Fix as an early treat for her 60th birthday.

She said: “My wardrobe is far too big - I need help on what clothes I should get rid off.”

As well as filming in the town hall's assembly room Gok also filmed sequences on Yarmouth's seafront for his show.

The Yarmouth Gok's Fashion Fix shoot will be televised in late May or June and as well as the Norfolk town, Gok has been giving advice to women in Barnsley, Wrexham, West Bromwich, Matlock and Kettering for his latest series.

A spokeswomen for Gok said: “Gok endeavoured to see as many people as possible to Fashion Fix Yarmouth and was on the hunt for the one person who he thinks needs a brand new wardrobe and the mother of all makeovers.”

Karla Symonds, a spokeswoman Yarmouth borough council which is based in the town hall, said: “The town hall is a wonderful building and it is always good to open it up to the people of the borough.”
