Traders at Great Yarmouth’s Six Day Market have been given a financial boost by the borough council.

The budget meeting of Great Yarmouth Borough Council handed a boost to traders at the Six Day Market. Fees will stay at 2017/18 levels and traders who pay by direct debit will receive a 5pc discount.

An amendment proposed by Labour’s Michael Jeal was then approved which will see all traders given another 5pc discount

The funding for this further 5pc reduction will be taken from the Town Centre Initiative Reserve at a cost of £12,000.

The motion was supported by Trevor Wainwright, who said it was a way of supporting struggling market traders.
