Hundreds of people enjoyed the Filby Playing Field’s 63rd annual fete, which took place in glorious weather on bank holiday Monday and saw large crowds enjoy 40 stalls and traditional rides.

The fete was opened by the mayor of the borough Kerry Robinson-Payne, who then toured all the stalls, taking a particular interest in the British Lions and the Sea Cadets.

The dog display was well visited as were the exhibits of vintage tractors and vintage cars, most noticeable of which was a bright red Ford GT40.

Children were entertained by clowns Razz and Aunty Pearl and the adults by songs from Hank Bemarvin. Hosting the event was DJ Ross Stanton. The fete was visited by firefighters and there was an aerobatics display from local pilot, Tony Walsh.

Chairman of Playing Field Committee, Adrian Thompson, said the fete “had the makings of being the best ever”.
