YOUNGSTERS were jumping for joy last Thursday as their new look school was officially unveiled by Baroness Shephard of Northwold.Filby Primary School has just had a £1m makeover with a new extension with a large hall and three classrooms and a new library, computer suite and rooms in the remnants of the old Victorian building.
YOUNGSTERS were jumping for joy last Thursday as their new look school was officially unveiled by Baroness Shephard of Northwold.
Filby Primary School has just had a £1m makeover with a new extension with a large hall and three classrooms and a new library, computer suite and rooms in the remnants of the old Victorian building. The work has been taking place as part of a school's reorganisation in the area, which saw the Filby school moving from First to Primary education status for five to 11-year-olds.
Headteacher Margaret Baker said: “The children have been so excited watching their new school being built and they are thrilled to have moved in now. We all feel it is a joy to be able to teach our pupils in state of the art buildings.”
County councillor Michael Carttiss, a former Filby pupil, helped Baroness Shephard open the school.
