A shed has been destroyed after a fire broke out at a home in a picturesque Norfolk Broads village this afternoon.

The fire at the home at Main Road in Filby led to the A1064 being closed to traffic as 17 firefighters dealt with the blaze, which was reported at 4.05pm.

The fire also saw a hedge being damaged and two windows of the home suffering smoke damage.

Rosemary Spooner, 74, lives in the home with her husband and they were at a funeral when the fire started.

Mrs Spooner said despite the damage she was relieved no one had been hurt and everyone was safe.

Fire engines from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Martham were called out and incident commander station manager Grant Cotterell praised the crews for how quickly they dealt with the incident in about 20 minutes.

He said at one point smoke was billowing across the A1064 and the road had been closed for safety reasons.
