A LARGE area of dunes was destroyed by fire on Friday turning the sky close to holiday makers' homes grey.
Three fire crews from Yarmouth and Martham were called to the blaze near the Winterton Valley Holiday Park which razed one hectare, or 10,000 sq.m of land.
Helen Finch, who was visiting from Essex for the Easter weekend, said she noticed the flames at about 5pm. She said: “The sky was getting quite grey and misty. We thought it was one of the chalets.”
Fire fighters had the blaze under control at the site of scientific interest by about 6pm.
