One of the largest occurred in Binham and stretched across 40 acres of field on Sunday.

Eight fire engines and a water carrier were called to the scene at Warham Road shortly after midday.

A witness said the blaze spread quickly across a field containing either wheat or barley.

“There were massive plumes of smoke and flames which could be seen for miles around,” the witness said.

“The fire brigade quickly turned up to manage the blaze which had spread to nearly the whole field.”

Earlier on Sunday, emergency services were called to a 100sqm area of undergrowth which caught fire in Felthorpe.

Three crews were called to Haveringland Road shortly after 9.40am to extinguish the blaze.

Meanwhile, three other fire crews are dealing with a straw stack blaze in Hainford.

Emergency services were called to Newton Road just after 11am initially to reports that a cow shed was on fire.

A fire service spokesman said the blaze is near livestock.

On Saturday, a field fire at Broome, near Bungay, took six crews to extinguish.

Fire engines from Loddon, Harleston, Carrow, Beccles, Lowestoft and Gorleston were called to the crop fire at Rectory Road shortly before 1.20pm.

Crews used a compressed air foam system and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

The incident was under control just after 2.30pm.

Elsewhere, crews from Aylsham, Wells, Reepham and Holt were sent to a large field fire off Reepham Road in Briston at 1.45pm.

Shortly before 3pm, fire engines from Diss and Attleborough attended a field fire on Station Road in Tivetshall St Margaret.

Meanwhile, a large field fire covering 12 acres in Horsford broke out just after 3pm.

Six crews were called to the scene shortly and use hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

Eight fire crews were called to Corpusty just before 3pm today (Sunday) after a blaze broke out in a field of crops.

Rescue services have now contained the fire after it spread 20 acres.
