CUSTOMERS of a former telecoms firm which went bust last month leaving businesses without phones, faxes and internet access, could take legal action.

Companies across the UK lost thousands of pounds in revenue when they were cut off without warning after Lancashire based Global Telecoms and Technology Ltd folded.

In Norfolk, taxi firms, coal merchants and a skip hire company were among those affected.

Grahame Parrott, the owner of the Aerolite petrol station and garage in Watton, said his turnover was cut by £10,000 to £15,000 in a week because he was unable to accept credit and debit card payments and customers could not book their cars in for service.

Now, the founder of a web forum aimed at bringing Global's ex-customers together has said he is looking into the possibility of bringing a class action.

Barry Taylor, who runs a finance firm in Bury where Global was based, said he had been advised by solicitors not to say who the action would be brought against but he was looking to get as much support as possible from business who had been affected.

He said: “We already have hundreds of members on the forum and we have still got more joining.

“We have got lawyers on board and we are looking at our options.”

Mr Taylor said the first notice customers had of the problems that Global were in was when the phones went dead and this was not how it should have been.

He said forum members already included several taxi companies, mechanics, firms of solicitors and an animal sanctuary.
