Jump Warehouse is being put through its paces by local footballers tomorrow ahead of Monday’s opening to the public.

Director John Wilson said the trial run was a chance for the new staff to get to grips with what they could expect and appealed for people’s understanding in the first week as everyone got used to the facility.

The centre in Main Cross Road has been transformed into a colourful activity hub, bringing a new attraction to the town close to the Pleasure Beach and bright lights of the Golden Mile.

Mr Wilson hailed the co-operation of the local workforce who had gone above and beyond to make sure the centre was ready for the holidays, giving youngsters a new opportunity to let off steam.

“We have had great co-operation from the local community in terms of the tradesmen, we have been really blessed. They have worked round the clock to open for half term so our customers can enjoy it.

“We are delighted to be opening, the response has been incredible. If we up-take as much as the feedback suggests, we will be packed out every day.”

Tonight civic dignitaries will enjoy a tour of the attraction, formerly a skate park. Then tomorrow morning youngsters of all ages drawn from local football teams will put the new business “under immense pressure” in a bid to replicate the challenging conditions staff will face every day and to test how well they cope.

“We need the public to be sympathetic that it is all new to us as well,” Mr Wilson added.

Work to create the park and cafe lounge area has been underway since the beginning of the year, covering 9000sq ft with trampolines.

The £1m centre also plans to host fitness activities for all ages spanning mother-and-toddler groups, to sessions targeting the over 50s, and creche facilities for mums wanting to take an exercise class.

There will also be two party rooms, a coffee lounge, and outdoor summer patio. Weekends will be focussed on fun jumping sessions which people are encouraged to book online to secure their place and cut queues.

There are angled trampolines, a dodgeball court, crash mat and slam dunk.

But it is also looking to incorporate the latest innovations coming through, including digital games.

Up to 80 people can jump an hour.

The park will open from 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 9pm at weekends. Jumping is £8 and £8.50 with £1.50 for socks which can be worn again.
