A MAN is in hospital with what the police described earlier as "life threatening" injuries following a public order incident on Great Yarmouth seafront last night.

Five men have been arrested following the incident on Marine Parade ijust after 11pm last night.

It is believed it started with an altercation involving a large number of people in the vicinity of The Long Bar and then continued along Marine Parade.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, suffered serious neck wounds and was taken to the James Paget University Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Officers would like to thank those, including staff from The Long Bar who gave immediate assistance to the man.

He has now being transferred to The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where his injuries are no longer believed to be life threatening.

The five men were arrested by police close to the scene shortly afterwards and remain in custody at this time.

Officers and Crime Scene Investigators are continuing with enquiries and forensic examination at the scene.
