A police chase in a village saw two cars crash and five people suffer injuries.

The pursuit happened in Ormesby St Margaret on Saturday at about 9.45pm when a grey Range Rover was being followed by police.

The Range Rover was then involved in collision with a blue Mercedes at the junction of West Road, Cromer Road and Filby Lane by the village green.

The three occupants of the Range Rover suffered minor injuries while the two occupants of the Mercedes were taken to the James Paget University Hospital with injuries.

Two men in the Range Rover, both in their 20s and from the Gorleston area, were arrested in connection with a number of driving offences. They were released under investigation.

Witnesses say the Range Rover pulled out into Cromer Road and sideswiped the other car and police blocked off the road while investigations were carried out.

Anyone with information should contact Sergeant Adrian Hales at Acle Police Station on 101.

As a result of police contact the matter has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct as is standard procedure.
