Flegg High School staff and pupils handed over a cheque for £5,250 to the Guide Dogs Association at special assemblies last week. The school has had a long friendship with the Guide Dogs Association and the money has been raised over the last few years by the Annual Christmas Fun Run.

Sandra, Mary and Graham, from the Guide Dogs Association, brought in two guide dogs, Edward and Ranger, to demonstrate to the Flegg pupils the history of the association and how the dogs work with visually impaired or totally blind people. Graham told how he became visually impaired and how he works with Edward.

When the cheque was handed over, the school were told that because of the terrific sum raised they will be able to name a guide dog puppy and follow its progress through its working life. The name will be decided through an inter form competition.

The photo shows Mr Boulton, headteacher, handing over the cheque to Graham from the Guide Dogs Association. Also in the photo are Ranger and Edward, and Flegg pupils.
