Flegg school's cha-cha-chance to impress

Pupils and the teachers they have recruited were yesterday busily practising dance routines ahead of their big night in front of an audience of villagers on Thursday.
Ms Stockings said: “It was my idea. I love the television programme and I first mentioned to our dance teacher a couple of years ago that it would be a brilliant concept for a school production.”
Giving the idea her own twist, she has made it a competition for teams with eight groups of between four and eight dancers taking part - each of the teams having at least one teacher recruited by the pupils.
Pupils across the whole school were competing and the age range of teachers taking part was equally varied, she added.
“A lot of the dance is contemporary. One group has chosen to dance to YMCA while another is performing to Michael Jackson,” she said.

“The reaction from teachers has been really positive. Some were really disappointed no one asked them to do it.”
Headteacher Russell Boulton will be joined on the judging panel by three dance teachers and people in the audience will also have a vote.
Proceeds from the evening from ticket sales and a raffle will go to Children in Need.
