A Great Yarmouth football fan is just 90 minutes away from fulfilling his lifelong dream of watching England play in a World Cup final.
The Three Lions take on Croatia on Wednesday in the semi-finals for the chance to play in their first World Cup final since 1966.
Geoff Maddison has watched the team play in tournaments across the world and provisionally secured a ticket for the final at the start of the tournament, on the outlandish condition that England made the final.
Mr Maddison said: “There’s five of us who have got tickets for the final and we’ve got flights booked out of Norwich on Friday night; all we need now is 90 minutes of good luck and the Yarmouth boys are in Moscow.
“I never thought I’d go to a World Cup final with England in it, not remotely.
“You can’t get a flight of Moscow on Monday for love nor money, but we wouldn’t want one anyway if England win. So on Monday, we’ll be in Red Square celebrating.”
