Works at Great Yarmouth railway station are not expected to be completed until the end of September.
Improvements to the station forecourt got under way today and £570,000 will be spent on the project.
The work will create clearer areas for taxi parking, an improved bus stop and drop off bays close to the station entrance.
Parking numbers will remain the same, but there will be a larger car park next to Acle New Road will be open from the start of works.
A new shared pedestrian and cycle way will be created on the south-eastern side of the station approach road, which will link with cycle facilities on Acle New Road.
Train track features will also be incorporated into the paving to help guide pedestrians to a raised zebra crossing on the service road leading to Asda, and a similar track feature will be used to define a cycle route.
The route between the station and the town centre via the Vauxhall Bridge river crossing will also be developed.

On top of this, the work will see improvements made to lighting, seating and soft landscaping.
Details of a proposed community garden are yet to be confirmed.
The purpose of the project is to create better routes from the station for cyclists and pedestrians, encourage more visitors to consider travelling to the town via train and to improve the appearance of the route from the station to the town centre.
