A GROUP of eight pupils at Herman Middle School found out about a Friendship Funday after reading about it in a children's newspaper. The Funday involves a pack from Save the Children Fund helping raise money for poor families in Sierra Leone.
The youngsters started with a presentation assembly to each class, using a moving DVD from the Save the Children Fund. The children then arranged a series of activities including mini-basketball competitions and a bring and buy sale, all designed to raise money and encouraging children to meet other year groups and to make new friends.
The efforts raised a magnificent £115 and the money will be used to buy water filters to help families.
The eight pupils who organised the Friendship Funday were: Top row, from left, Chad, Jason, Haydn, Jared and Edward. Bottom, Apoorva, Jodie and Sian.
