POTENTIAL volunteers are being asked to steam into two north Norfolk railway stations next month to find out how they can donate their free time to helping their community.

The North Norfolk Volunteer Fair will take place at Sheringham and Holt stations on Saturday, June 6.

More than 40 groups will exhibit at the event offering visitors information about how to give their time to a wide range of organisations involving conservation, animal rescue, theatre, health and air defence.

The fair is being jointly organised by the North Norfolk Railway and Voluntary Norfolk - which promotes and supports volunteering across the county.

The organisation estimates that in 2006, as many as 9,500 volunteers in north Norfolk gave up more than 900,000 hours of their time to help projects.

The first 200 visitors to the fair aged over 16 who sign up to volunteer will get a reduced-price train ride on the North Norfolk Railway.

The fair is on from 10am to 3pm at both stations. For more information, contact Mr Smith on 01263 516414 or e-mail paul.smith@voluntarynorfolk.org.uk
