Another village has announced it is cracking down on dog owners who don’t clear up after their pets.
In Repps with Bastwick, borough councillor Mary Coleman announced that she has transferred £1,000 from her ward budget to fund extra dog fouling patrols in Martham and Repps with Bastwick through until Easter. It was said at a meeting of the parish council that this is in response a continuing problem in the area of owners not picking up after their pets and using the extra bins which have been provided. Last week it was announced in the Mercury that a crackdown on irresponsible pet owners was launched in villages to catch people who didn’t clean up after their animals in the street. In Hemsby, the parish council said it was determined to catch people in the act so they can be taken to court, prosecuted and fined.
Meanwhile in Caister the parish council had put up posters explaining that they would seek to prosecute those caught.
