Storms forced the cancellation of the popular Wednesday market in Great Yarmouth this morning.
Traders were told that gale force winds of more than 60mph made it unsafe to set up stalls today.
It is the first time weather conditions have prevented the weekly market opening for more than 10 years.
A Great Yarmouth Borough Council spokesman said: “The decision was taken as the Market Traders Federation insurance policy is only valid up to wind speeds of 34 mph. This does not affect the covered market which will remain trading as normal.”
